1/72 AWI American
Guilford Courthouse was the inspiration for these and the British.The army deployed in roughly the three lines at Guilford courthouse.
1/72 plastic war-games. Used plastic as there was no way I could afford to do this in 28mm. Happy I did it but will still probably end up doing a smaller force in 28mm. Not organised to any particular set of published rules but from various published orders of battle. Figures are 1/72 plastics from Imex and Italeri with gaps filled with Irregular 20mm metals. Mounted units on 40x40 bases, infantry on 40x30, rest on whatever fits.
Army command.
C-in-C; Infantry; Cavalry; Artillery.
Virginia Continental brigade.
Maryland Continental brigade.
Delaware Company;
North Carolina Companies.
Continental artillery.
Imex crews, HaT guns (Imex guns way too small to represent 6pdrs, shame as they are fabulous little models, get used with 15mm troops probably).
Washington's Legion.
Continental Dragoons;
Mounted Militia;
Lynch’s Rifle regiment;
Delaware Company.
Lee's Legion
Dragoons.
Campbell’s Rifle Regiment;
Sentinels.
Virginia Militia brigade.
North Carolina Militia brigade.
Train.

These look great! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteSome fine looking figures, well done!
ReplyDeleteWow! They look fantastic. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated folks, they should of course been 28mm to match the British but at over 200 figures a wee bit beyond my means! The plan now is to do some AWI gaming over the winter, hopefully.
ReplyDeleteMay your dice always be winners

Meant to comment on this a couple of days ago. Besides the great painting and basing I loved the layout of this post. Showed the sets and how you used them. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSean, very kind of you to say so. May as well put some additional info in the posts, kinda raises the interest level.

Awesome¡¡ I´m trying to start a new blog about AWI in 1/72. Your blog is a source of inspiration, but an unattainable goal¡¡

Very kind of you to say so. As HaT are working on figures for both sides things can only get better for modellers.
DeleteNice work on your Brits so far. A minor observation though, perhaps a little lighter on the wash. Looking forward to seeing more.
