1/72 Macchi C.200 Saetta

Saetta = Arrow

Air support for the Italian desert force. Started with the aircraft to delay painting the infantry figures.

A very straightforward kit to build and is a 'straight from box' construction.  One point though, the two pitot tubes on the wings are very delicate and break off easily; on reflection I should have removed these and fitted them at the end.  The cockpit canopy was a bit disconcerting as it took a while for me to realise that it is indeed open, Medi. theatre but must still have been draughty for the pilot! Really wanted 1/144 for gaming purposes but beggars can't be choosers.

My first go at the spotty camouflage scheme, looks reasonable to me.  A bit torn on the yellow cowling. Wasn't that the Axis thing for Balkans, Crete, etc. rather than the desert war?
